Device mockups that keep your portfolio covers looking sharp
Mockups can polish a cover or ruin it. Match the frame to the product, crop tight, stay consistent, export sharp, and build them so they are easy to update.
Device mockups are the easy way to make a cover look finished, and the easy way to make a portfolio look the same as everyone else's. When they go wrong they go wrong visibly: blurry, mismatched, or dated. A few habits keep them from breaking.
Match the frame to the product
A web app looks right in a browser or laptop frame, a mobile app in a phone frame, and a responsive design in a small family of devices. A phone wrapped around a desktop dashboard confuses the story.
Crop to what matters
Full browser chrome with tabs and bookmarks is noise. Crop tightly to the part of the screen that carries the idea.
Stay consistent
Mixed backgrounds, frames and crops across projects look accidental. Pick one treatment and use it everywhere. Keep frames current too: an old phone model quietly dates the work.
Export sharp
A soft, low-resolution cover costs more credibility than it saves in time. Export at high resolution and check it on a large screen.
Make them easy to maintain
Build the covers from reusable templates, so updating a screen means swapping one layer instead of redoing the composition. The best cover is the one you can still afford to keep fresh.
