Onboarding for a new B2B tool
A four-week sprint that turned a confusing sign-up into a guided setup that gets new teams to their first result.
The problem
A seed-stage start-up was attracting sign-ups but fewer than a third of new teams ever invited a colleague, the action that predicted staying.
What needed to be done
Design onboarding that gets a team to its first shared result in one session.
How the right problem was found
I ran a one-week design sprint with the founders, mapped where new teams stalled and tested a prototype with six customers. The strongest change was reordering setup so that inviting a colleague happened after the first win, not before.
The outcome, measured
Activation improved in the first month after launch, and the team kept the sprint format for future features.
