Accessibility program for nine products
A shared audit and training programme that brought customer-facing tools up to WCAG 2.1 AA.
The problem
A customer complaint and a procurement requirement exposed that most tools had never been tested with assistive technology.
What needed to be done
Bring customer-facing products to WCAG 2.1 AA within a year and make accessibility part of normal delivery.
How the right problem was found
I ran audits with a screen reader and keyboard-only testers, grouped the 310 issues by root cause, and found that 70% came from twelve shared components. Fixing those in the system cleared most issues at once. I then trained design and engineering leads and added accessibility checks to the component review.
The outcome, measured
The company passed its procurement audit and teams now catch most issues before release.
